Getting Back in the Groove and Happy National Digital Scrapbooking Day

After almost 8 months, I'm finally getting back to the hobby I enjoy so much. This year has been a roller coaster and I'm not done with all the rides yet but the hills are getting smaller and the curves aren't as sharp. Let's just keep it that way! Hopefully I can resume making great products for my store and to give as freebies on a more consistent basis. There will still be gaps of time where I may fall off the earth - we are currently in the process of selling our home and are getting ready to build a new one. Both very exciting but time consuming projects. My plan is to keep designing as a way to hold on to my sanity and give me some "me time". So here's a small freebie that I know is a little late for the holiday (but better late than never!)

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that my grandfather, John DiChiara, passed away Saturday afternoon. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers during the last several months. They were very comforting to me and my family.

Weekly Freebie and Update

I made it back again to post another freebie for you. I'm continuing my series of commercial use overlays with another set of 6. I got such a great response on the set from last week - I really appreciate all the sweet comments (and well wishes for my granddad).
I also need to apologize because I know I've received very thoughtful messages that people have linked to my blog and I've even received a blog award. I'm sorry I haven't acknowledged these kind gestures I will try to remedy that as soon as I can.
My mom had to take my granddad back to the hospital yesterday. He now has pneumonia and his oncologist has said his body is too weak and sick to try to administer chemo. At this point it's time to call in Hospice care. I'm not sure when he'll get to come home. I imagine the next few weeks will be hard on us all.
I'm going to set-up my post for next week to be automatic so you will have links to next weeks freebies in case I'm not available to post.

It seems like I always have my favorites that I go back to over an over again. Hopefully you'll find these a good addition to your stash. On a personal note, I've been staying with my granddad more and more lately. He's really deteriorated in the last couple of weeks. He's very weak and can barely get up to leave the couch out of necessity. He goes back to the oncologist next week to talk about whether he should attempt chemo or not after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure 2 weeks ago. It just seems like everything in his body is starting to break down all at the same time. It's so hard to see such a drastic change just since the holidays. Thanks again for all the kind words and prayers being said on our family's behalf.
Hopefully, I'll be checking in again next week with another set of overlays. Till then...

Februay Freebie

I'm writing this on Wednesday so I can be sure that it's up for you on February 1st. We have been hit with that nasty ice and snow storm that hit a good part of the US yesterday and today. You don't think of ice as being destructive but this has been awful. My mom has a power line down across her driveway and the one to her house is down and tangled in some tree branches that have fallen from the weight of the ice. She also has an oak tree in her backyard that it easily over 100 years old and one of the tree sized branches fell from it and took out her fence. She doesn't need all this stress on top of everything going on with my granddad.
Right now I'm just thankful that we have power and heat (75,000 homes in our area out out of power because of the ice and trees breaking the lines). My boys are outside right now enjoying the day off from school and playing in our piles of snow.
I hope where you are is safe and comfortable - hug your family!

Next week, I'm back on the blog train with the ADSD group. We've put together a great collab called Chocolate Cherry. It will be great for your lovey-dovey stuff. I also tried to make mine with plenty of generic patterns and pieces so it would be pretty versatile. So be sure to check back on Feb 1st.
I'm sitting with my granddad most days now until my boys get home from school. It's hard because it leaves a gap of time that he's alone until my mom gets off from work. It's the best we can come up with right now. He starts chemo this Wednesday and we're hoping it goes ok for him.

Rosebud Freebie part2

Here's the next installment of the Rosebud kit. You can download it through my store here. I hope everyone is staying warm - the weather has just been bitter lately. And we haven't had it as bad as some! I'll be enjoying the MLK holiday today with my boys today snuggled up on the couch watching movies and staying toasty!
Also, thank you for the sweet thoughts and prayers about my granddad. They have been comforting to read. We found out last Friday that he has Stage 4 lung cancer. The doctor isn't sure he could tolerate chemo and that it only has a 50% chance of slowing the tumor growth. It's his decision on whether he wants to try chemo or not. Needless to say, it's been an emotional few days for the family with lots to think and worry about.

I'm back with good news, bad news, and a freebie

I’m finally back after being away for several weeks and I have so much to cover.

First, I have some good news. The Digital Scrap Mall has undergone some remodeling and it is now how it’s owner originally wanted it to be – with each designer having their own store front under the mall heading. It’s a very cool concept and it’s been so much fun setting up my own store! I’m so excited about it. There’s a separate section for freebie downloads so you don’t have to mess with a cart, a layout gallery and other goodies. So check it out at www.digitalscrapmall.com/creativedigitalscraps and look down below for my Grand Opening ad and coupon information.

Next up, I finally have a freebie for you after a many week hiatus. I think I’m going to try something different for a while. Instead of coming up with little unique freebies during the month, I will do a kit and share it in pieces as the weeks progress. This month we’re starting with Rosebud and you can go Here to get the first of three downloads. A preview of the full kit is down below.

Some other changes to my blog are that my freebies are no longer going to be free forever. Items will remain either at 4 shared or at my store’s download area for one month and then they will be moved to my dollar bin. That’s plenty of time to snag it and once it’s moved it’s still a good deal (especially when you have a coupon).

Lastly, on a personal note, my 87 yr old grandfather has been diagnosed with lung cancer and emphysema. He’s completing tests this week to determine the stage of the cancer and what his treatment options are for the future. With that said, I will try to maintain a weekly freebie download as much as possible and following up on any store issues as promptly as circumstances allow. Hopefully things won’t be disrupted too much but I’m sure everyone understands that family comes first.

My 87 yr old grandfather has been having some health issues and we are currently waiting on a diagnosis to see if he has lung cancer. He was like a dad to me in my younger years while my parents were going through their divorce. I spent many a day in the garage with him tinkering around on his various projects. With the holidays and the desire to do all I can for him and my mom, designing will be on hold for a couple of weeks. Thanks for understanding and hopefully I'll be back with great news and new freebies in the new year!

Well, here's some new goodies I'm releasing in the store this week. One of them is my very first commercial use brush set! I think my favorite is the Safekeeping element pack of lock faces and keys. I've always loved looking at old keys and they're such a versitle item for your scrapbook project.

I also have some news that I'm sitting that I think is pretty exciting. I'm hoping I'll be able to let the cat out of the bag sometime next week.

Well, this week has been much better than last. Things are much more quiet and dare I say, almost back to normal. Though what is normal these days?
Anyway, I have another set of grungy boy shirts for you. Though they are perfect for boy pages, they really could be used for anything. Let your imagination go and put them to good use!

It's been one crazy week around here and I apologize for not having a freebie out earlier. I've been trying to be a good daughter and step-daughter lately for my dad who recently had shoulder surgery and to his wife, who's father is trying to recover from major surgery complications. That hasn't been too bad but now we've had the remnants of Hurricane Ike come through and most of our area had major wind damage and massive power outages. We're one of the fortunate ones who only lost power for about 24 hours and had some roof damage. I've had to throw out everything in my fridge and freezer but many places in our area may be without power for up to 2 weeks. All the schools are closed for the week too so I've got 2 cooped up boys at home. It's been crazy but it makes you count your blessings. This is nothing to what people in Texas and the gulf are dealing with currently.

Anyway, enough grumbling. I have a small freebie for you this evening. It's a 10-paper pack that was inspired by my boys shirts hanging in their closets. I have enough "inspiration" that you'll probably see a couple more sets of these. Their simple and gungy so you can use them for all sorts of things. Happy Birthday to Me! Yes, today is really my birthday and my wonderful family has been spoiling me all weekend. It almost makes being a 30-something worth it! ;)

Last of the Signs

Well, at least for now. Here's the final installment of the street signs. Most of these were a special request but I thought there might be enough there to interest others. I strayed from the green street sign background and decided to do these in colors that matched the signs. If enough people really, really want them in just the green background, I can make those up too.

Yes, that one was on purpose but not the street sign! Thanks to my regular reader, Jenn, for catching my goof. I misspelled Independence Avenue - Photoshop needs a spellcheck! :) Anyway, it's now fixed in the same link below. So if you downloaded it early this morning you'll need to redownload for the correct one. (The preview still shows the wrong spelling though.)

I tried to go throught all the comments on my blog and on 4 shared and I made a list of all the street sign requests. I think I have them all down. I'm so glad you liked them and wanted more! I'm just sorry it took a couple of weeks for me to get to them. My boys are back in school as of this past Wednesday so I have a little more time on my hands. I absolutely can't believe the response that the zoo spirit collab kit received last week. I'm so glad you all liked it! Here's a few more things that I wasn't sure whether or not to include in the original release.

Next, thank you for all the wonderful comments. They really help a designer keep motiviated to know that people really enjoy their work. I also still have those street signs on my to-do list. I promise I'll get to those. My boys go back to school next Wednesday and I'll have a lot more design time to get things done. :)

Also, I have some BIG news to share but I'm not quite ready to let the cat out of the bag yet. I'm hoping by the middle of next week to let you in on my exciting news. So check back!

I was working on a layout the other day and came up with the idea of making a street sign as an embellishment. I thought it turned out pretty well so I decided to make a bunch as freebies. I just did well known street names for Los Angeles and San Francisco. If I get a good response I can do some for other cities since I think they make great vacation embellishments. Blinging My Blog

Rooney's Birthday Elements

Well, the parties are over and most of the clean up is done. My house now has a few hundred more legos, a couple of trucks, boardgames, and miscellaneous toys. Now just to find room for it all. :)

Growing Up

Well, tonight's my last night to have a 6 yr old in my house. My youngest turns 7 tomorrow. There are some things that I hope he out grows soon and others that I hope never got away - like how much of a love bug he is! In honor of his 7th birthday with a Monster Truck theme, I've come up with a small freebie kit. I've only got the papers ready to go for tonight but I've got some cute elements to go with it. I hope to have those out this weekend. We are partying tomorrow and Saturday so it will be busy!

Busy Working...

I was hoping to be able to provide a freebie everyweek but I'm not sure I'll get one out this week or not. I have been busy working on a collab kit with a fabulous group of ladies at ADSDesigners. It's due out on August 1st and it will be HUGE. We currently have over 45 different designers signed up to contribute to this kit. Some of the previews I've seen are awesome - there's a whole lot of talent in this group. Definitely something to appeal to everyone's taste. I'm just thrilled to be a part of it. So start clearing off some hard drive space because you'll want to go through the whole list of blogs that will be published on August 1.

Practice Makes Freebies!

Hopefully everyone had a nice weekend. Ours was busy as usual but I've come to accept the fact that this is just the pace we live our family life. Sometimes it's crazy and hectic and absolutely drives me nuts but it keeps things interesting. It's a good life - I can't complain!

I did manage to find some time to play with my digi stuff. I've been trying out all sorts of new techniques to enhance my designing skills. Over the weekend I worked on learning how to make repeating geometric patterns. Now I need to work on more complicated designs - slowly I'll get there.

So here's a personal use freebie for you of 6 geometric patterns and 6 matching solids. Any constructive criticism is always appreciated. My First Freebie

Just a little something to get my feet wet with offering freebies. I've learned so much in the last couple of weeks. Who knew there would be so much to cover - blogger, HTML, 4shared, file compression. It really makes me appreciate all the wonderful designers out there who are dedicated to bringing us great products on a consistent basis. Make sure you thank your favorite designers for their hard work! They deserve it 'cause it's a lot harder than it looks.

First Post and a Layout

Well, I took the plunge and created my own blog. I'm hoping to use this as a way to showcase my creativity in scrapbooking and digital designs. Eventually I would like to offer freebies and see how things go from there.

I'm currently working on a scrapbook of a Disney cruise we took last month to Mexico. I have several Disney scrapbooks that are in process so I'm sure that theme will come up in my designs. I love the shabby chic look but I keep things pretty simple. I love the look of the more embellished pages but just can't seem to pull it off my self.
